Why is it called R8 if it only goes R to 6?

I’ve never noticed that reverse is next to second on these. Really odd pattern... seems like the least ideal place for it.
What other cars have R there?

I haven’t used one but I think all the way on the right would be wors e. When doing a 3 or whatever point turn you’d have longer movements every time.

n o what’s worse is going to shift into what I expect to be sixth and grinding reverse :::)

Haha, I assume they all have lock outs for reverse. Thats standard right?

I did it in a friend’s old Hilux very briefly and ground one of the synchros I assume? It wasn’t a happy sound. No physical lockout otherwise.

No lock out is putting too much confidence in my hands.
I like my Miata’s push down for reverse.
